Alex + Matt | Ace Hotel Wedding, Pittsburgh

School-themed vintage glam Ace Hotel Wedding Pittsburgh.

From the bird-cage veil, to the marching band, this vintage-themed Ace Hotel wedding perfectly reflects a fun-loving couple.

We went old-school with Alex and Matt’s vintage wedding theme. And when we say old school, there was no better location than Pittsburgh’s Ace Hotel in the old gymnasium of the YMCA – and we could not have loved it more!

Alex and Matt wanted their day to be a fun celebration of who they were as individuals and as a couple. Because Alex is a teacher, a school theme was intertwined with the vintage glam motif. The couple wanted to get creative and give their wedding a personality much like their own - fun, stylish and filled with love.

Their custom vintage wedding invitations invited guests to their assembly (ceremony) followed by recess (reception). Vintage decorations included old trophies spray painted gold for centerpieces, to the Patriot Brass Ensemble marching band and a Dalmatian mascot making an appearance, every detail was perfectly planned.

Alex’s mom Jan, was the lady behind all the antique touches in the locker, and personally spray painted over 100 vintage trophies gold, which she curated over a year.

Antique accents also added a unique touch to their vintage wedding décor including a teachers lounge from Vintage Alley Rentals. We could tell the creative genes ran in the family as Alex’s sister sang at her ceremony and the father of the bride wrote and sang a song for his daughter, perfectly titled “Carolina Rose.” We were even teary listening to the words! In addition, Alex and Matt’s speeches from her maid of honor and his sister started with a video montage of their childhood.

While the school theme was in play, the room was made softer by blue velvet linens and gorgeous floral accents from The Farmers Daughter.

Alex’s second dress was even more of a stunner and they reentered their reception to a Saxophone player playing her favorite song, a request made by Matt for his new bride. There was plenty of dancing under the romantic lighting from EF Lighting and Alex's childhood friends even put together a flash mob.

Alex’s wedding dress along with her birdcage veil made for the perfect old-fashioned Hollywood glam look. From the couple’s first look to their ceremony, it was no doubt that Alex and Matt share a love that is one for the books. The way they look and celebrate one another is truly inspiring with love and enjoying their time to the fullest.

There’s so much more we could say about this couple, but the pictures speak for themselves. Words can’t even describe the love and joy that surrounded them that day.

We even loved their thank you’s that were appropriately themed “report cards” , where we are happy to say we received an A+! Thank you, Alex and Matt, we’re so glad we passed the test!
